History of al-Awadi

Mr. Abdulla Hashim initially founded Al-Awadi Group in 1991 under the name of Al-Raida Textiles, retailing in ladies textiles, mainly imported from Europe.

With realization of the market’s and its customers’ need for famous names in the Textile field, the group adapted a new strategy of emphasis on importing well-known brands. Such a strategy proved to be successful as it quickly captured the attention of the market, and Tash became a well-known name locally and developed a wide customer portfolio from other GCC countries as well.

Al Raida Textiles – 10.8.1991Over the years business expanded and this resulted in the opening a further two showrooms under the banner of Tash Haute Couture Textiles, all located in prime areas.

In the year 1999 the company adapted a strategy of diversification, and entered the entertainment and sports business by openingt Rendezvous Club. In the year 2000 the company also ventured into the food industry by opening Chopin, a well-known Lebanese franchise for patisserie and chocolate. During 2001 the company opened its first up-market ladies tailoring house La Pomme Couture, specializing in evening and bridal wear, and complementing Tash as a textile retailer.

Al-Awadi Group is planning to expand its current portfolio by obtaining additional franchise and brand names in a bid to look for further opportunities.
